Q. WILL MY CELL PHONE FIT IN THE CELL PHONE POCKET?
The cell phone pocket in all our bags is sized to hold most phones, including iPhone, Androids and Blackberry.
Q. WHAT IF MY BAGS GETS WET?
If your bag gets very wet, a stain will appear. With normal use, the stain will dissipate over time. A leather cream or conditioner may also be used to rejuvenate your bag.
Q. WHAT DO I DO IF I SCRATCH MY BAG?
On most leathers, scratches, blemishes and markings will diminish over time. We encourage you to continue using your bag to allow the scratch to work into the leather. Most leathers will patina naturally and look better with wear and age.
Q. WILL COLOUR FROM THE LEATHER STAIN MY CLOTHING?
Very rarely, These are full grain, full aniline leathers, which feature waxes and oils. In very rare occurrences, colour transfer may occur.
Q. WILL THE COLOUR OF MY BAG CHANGE OVER TIME?
Yes. With time, leather will naturally distress and age. We believe that our bags become even more beautiful with wear and age. For products using vegetable tanned leathers, the leather will darken over time to a beautiful hue as it is exposed to sunlight.
Q. HOW LONG WILL MY BAG LAST?
Cathy Prendergast bags are all handmade and designed to last a lifetime!
Q. HOW ACCURATE ARE THE COLOURS ON SCREEN?
We try our utmost to get as true a representation as possible of the colours and texture of our leathers. It depends on the make, settings and resolution of your computer, and the individual character of the leather itself, that some colour variation between what is seen on the screen and what you receive may occur. We are happy to send a swatch of any leathers on request.
Q. WHAT IS EMBOSSED LEATHER?
Usually corrected grain, in which a pattern is applied by extreme pressure in a press to give a unique design or imitation of full grain characteristics. Sometimes leathers are embossed to make them appear to be another leather, such as embossing Ostrich, Python, and Crocodile patterns into Calf or cowhides.
Q. WHAT IS GRAIN (leather)?
The outside of the hide or skin consisting of pores, cells, wrinkles and other characteristics which constitute the natural texture of the leather.
Q. WHAT IS VEGETABLE TANNING?
The conversion of rawhide into leather by use of vegetable tannins. This process produces leather with greater body and firmness than the more general method.
